Rode back to Chinon
Glenn and I rode back 15 miles on the Loire a' velo to see the garden festival on Chinon's castle grounds. It was like Seattle's garden show only better, with acres of rolling park and medieval castle and stables in the background! After that we toured Leonardo d'a Vinci's last home, gardens in Amboise, and had a great dinner with local wines and tart Tatin for dessert. Great weather!

We Have Been Riding Hard
During our three nights in Blois-- where we stayed in little yurts-- we visited Chambord and Chiverny castles, and rode about 25 miles each day on great loops through woods, villages, along ponds, through vineyards. We are in a bed and breakfast tonight in Amboise.
It is so much more tiring on the days we ride with our bags. Nice shower here, picnic lunch in the backyard by the kitchen garden and Babeth even washed my clothes and hung them up to dry!

We've been riding.
We rode 40 miles when we left Chartres, following the cycle route for the way, to Campostella in Spain. Our hosts in Chartes set us up to ride a back way to a village that had a midieval mural that was fabulous. The day was long, but weather was good, and we had a good camping dinner in Chateaudun (at a municiple park - 10 euro for all four of us. The next day we slogged through to Blois, on the Loore river, 50 miles on a straight road to make time. We slept well. Today we rode 37 miles with no baggage, to Chambord castle and back on a beautiful cycle route.
